Shonda takes her civic duty seriously. In 2012, she was appointed to President Obama’s Platform Committee for DNC. She later was part of The White House Council for Women and Girls inaugural committee of community leaders, and Obama’s African American Leadership Council.

Shonda has served on the Co-Chair Obama Victory Trustees, Chair of Oakland African American Chamber of Commerce, Chair of Alameda County Human Relations Commission, Board of Regents for Bishop O’Dowd High School, Big Brother and Big Sisters of Bay Area Board, Member of Cal/UCLA Alumni Association, and as Vice President of Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) of Northern California. In 2006, Congresswoman Barbara Lee recognized Shonda as CBC Young Leader for her extensive civic and community leadership.

Ms. Scott is the executive producer and host of the talk show, Spotlight with Shonda Scott, which highlights positive stories in the Bay Area and features such guests as the City’s Mayor, Ambassador Andrew Young, Congresswoman Barbara Lee, and many other officials.
